Abstract

This paper presents the stress inversion method which has been applied to the nationwide GPS network. This method determines a distribution of stress increment satisfying the equilibrium from a distribution of measured strain increment (Hori et al.,2000).We are now developing a system of monitoring crust deformation and stress state using the stress inversion method. The system will be also used in constructing a reliable model of the Japanese Islands which account for the regional heterogeneity.
